THE ONE WHERE THE NEW PRESIDENT MADE MY MISSION HIS MISSION

OH THIS WEEK HAS BEEN NUTS! So last week we had to travel a lot which made us pretty much broke right, well this week we became broke after we had our consejo in brazil...and we went to the temple on personal money because we were BROKE haha but we're okay now! So a lot is going down here in Lascanoooooo. Fisrt, my area isn't super safe anymore haha like some guy came at me with a saw at one point because he wanted "suerte" which uhhh is a fat no from me chief also theres a lack of priesthood here so president has decided to move us and replace us with elders, but  not only move us but split us up!! So my trainer is moving to an area closer to montevideo where she is going to be training another hermana and I will be going to another area where i'll finish my training with a latina companion!!! We weren't going to move at allll but this new president has been making SO MANY CHANGES!! like this is definitley becoming HIS mission and im excited to see what all goes down now!!

We went to the temple on saturday with our conversa!! shes super super capa!! so we get to montevideo and shes there and shes so so happy to see us and she was like do you guys want breakfast? and we were like sure why not, so we go to this place called Barny's and we were fully prepared to pay for ourselves and Cecilia was like no you guys go sit down at a table im paying...like WHAT!! so we sit down and she brings us these super yummy breakfast sandwiches and they were so big!! after breakfast we went to the temple so she could do some baptisms and that was super awesome, and then after thatttt we still had 6 hours until our bus left so she took us on a drive to the beach!!! ME ENCANTA LA PLAYAAAAA!!! Legit its the closest thing ive had to a california beach in a long time and it just made me miss it so much!! after the beach she took us to a MALL this place was 4 stories!!! not really sure if that was allowed but she told us that that was where we were gonna have lunch and we didnt sooo...idk about that haha but for lunch she took us to get SUSHI!! so she got us sushi AND burgers for lunch and thats the most american meal ive had in almost 3 months!!! but that day was really really fun!!!

also i HATE dogs now. but one day during pros, i saw a tiny little puppy and it was so so so cute!!! and so i bent down to pet it and then we saw ANOTHER one!!!!! and so we were playing with both of them and the less active member we were knoking at came out and saw us playing with the puppies and he was so happy that they were making us happy and he tried to give them both to us for free and i never thought satan would work through puppies but we knew it was against the rules for missionaries to have pets so it was actually really sad when we had to explain to him that we couldnt take them home sooooo yeah i think that about wraps up the week haha. love you guys!!

THE ONE WHERE THE BUS BECAME MY HOME

Holaaaaa!!! this week has been so crazy busy!! we didnt have very many charlas because we were traveling so so much and the ones we did have most of them fell through...so thats no fun, but good news!!! it warmed up so much this week like half the time i didnt need a jacket which was awesome but that meant the house got SUPER humid so our floors spent a lot of time being wet...which is no fun ecause we were always slipping in the house haha sooo maybe i can be a pro ice skater when i come home!!! just kidding lol but still!

Alsoooooo I had to eat Mondongo again which is stomach lining!!!! legit gets more and more gross every time i have to eat it!!!!! and it actually looks so gross...i cant believe people like it!!!! but if they like it they like it and im gonna have to learn to like it because i only have to eat it for 16 more months haha

This week we traveled so so much!! so first we traveled to brazil (one of my favorite places to go) and we had a district meeting, then the next day we had entrivistas (interviews) all the way in 33 which is an hour away, and then the next day we had all day to work and that didnt really go very well because everything fell through except for 2 people, and then that night we had to travel back to 33 so that we could catch a bus to montevideo and so allllllll that traveling plus having to buy groceries and replace moldy household items haha so basically we're broke buts its okay we're gonna thrive and we'll be fine haha

THE ONE WHERE MY TOOTHPASTE COSTED MORE THAN 8 ROLLS OF TOILET PAPER

I SURVIVED A MONTH OF THE COLD!!! Okay actually it warmed up a little bit this week haha but stilllll ya girl surviveedddd. Not only was it my cumplemes, but we also got 21 Nuevos this week!! Thats really huge for this area especially when we haven't really been having success with finding new people recently. it was really hard because we were putting in the work and we had the faith but we weren't really getting anything out of it at all but we realized that that wasn't a good mindset to have at all because when you aren't having success you're planting seeds and its your job to find the seeds that others have planted before you because god has personally placed people in your way.

Also this week my spanish has improved so much because we had intercambios with the viajantes which in english is the sister training leaders, hermana baugh whos also from georgia went with hermana king and then hermana luque whos from ecuador ended us being with me. she knows some english but not much so i was really forced to use all the spanish that i knew that day haha but it was a really good day. we had lunch with a ward member and his son's girlfriend and we were ableto set up a noche de hogar with her for friday where we had some of the best hot chocolate i've ever had (and Dr Beth if you're reading this i just want you to know it was completely dairy free for me so best believe im about to come make some for you and your family when i come back because i also learned how to make it!!)

Also we found some cuute places to take pictures haha but the humidity here has done crazy things to my hair haha so it makes me look different haha but its fun to find all the cool walls to take pictures on when we arent proselyting!!

Sooooo basically i completely ran out of toothpaste and were were almost out of toilet paper too so it worked out, so we go to the store to buy these two things and normaly the toilet paper comes in rolls of 4 but we discovered that this particular day that the 8 pack was less expesive, only like 85 pesos...and then we when to go look at toothpaste and just a regular freakin tube of toothpaste was 110 pesos!!! like that was so crazy to me that toothpaste here costs so much haha thats why most people here just dont brush their teeth but im not about to not brush my teeth soooooooo the 110 pesos worth of toothpaste is gonna have to be how i live here haha but its all good. VALE LA PENA PORQUE YO NO QUIERO DIENTES AMORILLO!!!

THE ONE WHERE I BE TRIPPIN OVER THESE DOGS

HOLAAAAA!! This week has actually been a really good one aside from all the cold weather...legit there was actually frost everywhere yesterday morning and our breath in the house has us looking like vape gods haha which sucks but it is what it is. So the 4th of July was this week as you all probably know (send pictures of all the fun things you guys did!!) and since its freezing here we didnt really celebrate too too much buttttttt, we made a giant cookie cake haha and in red and blue roklets (Uruguay's version of m&ms) and wrote out USA and then after we cooked it we put red and blue candles in it and lit them and started singing God Bless America hahaa you basically do anything so that you are siempre viviendo su mejor vida. 

Also we got a new branch president!! He's from Chile and hes super super awesome!! President Escobar has really really nice spanish!! like really nice spanish haha...like its probably the first time in the mission ive been able to understand everything in spanish from anyone other than my companion. I mean other than the vocabulary words i didnt already know, i could pretty much understand everything he said, so basically i might not have to live in the awful house anymore haha...he told us that we are all gonna do great things but that they were going to take care of us first!! so he basically said he doesnt want us living in moldy houses (which we do), he doesnt want us to be freezing (which we do), and he also doesnt want us to have anything else wrong with our houses like water or electricity (which we do haha)...the only problem is that here in our area there really isnt much of anywhere else to live haha but our house is going to be better soon so thats super nice.

also we had a baptism!! the first baptism here in lascano in 6 months!!! it was super good and hermana cecilia was super cute haha we called her earlier in the day to see how she was doing and she told us she was so nervous haha but then right before the baptism we asked her how she was and she said she was so so happy!! and then the next day was her confirmation and she got up and bore her testimony and it was the sweetest thing!! 

alsoooooooo so the title of my email has something to do with dogs and if you were in the CCM with me, no im not talking about my toes hahaaaa. so the dogs here are actually so so crazy here and theyre all stray and people train them to be mean. so the other day we were out working and so we knock on this door and this dog comes running around the corner and like starts climbing the fence so i just take like three steps back and i slip on a rock haha and almost fall in to a sewage drain...these dogs got me losin my mind...i actually really like dogs but after being here idk mannnn haha theyre too much for me somethimes.

The One Where We Could Have Died

This week was pretty good! Not a lot of interesting things happened but its all good. It´s still freezing here!! Like it doesn't matter how much we layer the wind pierces through everything so thats not fun. also its been raining a lot and my rain jaket decided to grow up andbe something else because i definitley got soaked hahaaa sooooo love that for me. getting up in the morning really isn't fun haha i men its not fun in general but having to wake up and it being extremely cold (so cold you can see your breath in the house because we dont really have a heater) sucks!! I´ve been having to get creative when it comes to showering because the water heater lasts like 4 or 5 minutes on a good day haha so i´ve been boiling water in a pot and then washing my hair in the pot of hot water THEN getting into the shower to finish washing myself...not ideal but it works haha

So our house is not only freezing all the time, but it also has a leak from somewhere...like me and my companion had to scoop water out of the house mutiple times this week hahaha its roughhhh and because the house stays so cold, the moisture from whatever is leaking just sits in the house after we've cleaned it up  because it's too cold for anything to evaporate and so things mold no matter how much we clean and its super gross but we're almost never home because we're always out working so we don't have to be at home living in it all the time which is nice haha and that sounds terrible but it is what it is.

Alsoooooo...we almost died this week. So Hermana King was calling her mom s say happy birthday and then when she hung up her mom told us to stay safe and then we left and started walking home and there was this creepy guy on the other side and he kicked a tree for no reason, so he obviously wasn't all there and then he saw us and started coming after us so we started walking faster and then he started walking faster and so we were almost running and this guy was following us so close we could hear his breathing and it legit sounded like he wanted to kill us! like all he had to do was reach out and he would have had one of us! it was so freaky!! but when he was following us we started going around blocks trying to keep him from following us home and then for whatever reason he just stopped following us in the middle of an intersection like it was so random haha but we're okay now...its just super scary cause we see him around town a lot
